I came across this “Advice from the Beatles” Lexicon depicting some of their song titles which I think sums up so concisely and perfectly what to do when certain pesky negative emotions hit us.
I’M SAD - HOW TO DIMINISH YOUR SADNESS
“Take a Sad Song and Make it Better”
Sing or hum, you know it’ll make you feel happier 🎶
“Don’t Carry the World on Your Shoulders“
You can’t solve the problems of the world, focus on you. Look after yourself and all will fall into place. Show yourself compassion with self-compassion self care and self love will follow leading to a happy, calm, life.
“Nothing You Can Do but You Can Learn to be You in Time”
Same as above
“Come Together Right Now”
Reach out to your neighbour. Give a stranger a smile. Above all remember to be kind
“Let It Be”
Let it go
“Life Goes On”
This too shall pass
“Jai Guru Deva Om”
This actually means “I give thanks to Guru Deva”. But I like to think of it as I am thankful
I’M HURT - HOW TO GET OVER YOUR HURT
“I Get by With a Little Help from My Friends”
Reach out to your friends don’t be alone - your friends are there not only in the good times but also the bad and are there to support you.
I’M ANGRY - HOW TO GET OVER YOUR ANGER
“Picture Yourself on a Boat on a River”
Water is a cleanser and a pacifier. It washes away negative emotions. Have you noticed if you’re feeling angry and you go for a swim, stand under a shower, walk in the rain how your anger dissipates. The water literally washes away negative emotions. So the Beatles were right. Picture water and your anger will be washed away.
I’M STRESSED - HOW TO DESTRESS
“Nothing is Real”
Nothing stays still - this too will - everything passes.
“Let it Be”
Let go of your stress by Breathing out what you don’t need and you don’t want, and Breathing in newness and freshness.
Tell me what you think about this
